Swearing-in of the Hon. Attorney General, Dorcas Oduor SC, as a Commissioner of the Judicial Service Commission

Swearing-in of the Hon. Attorney General, Dorcas Oduor SC, as a Commissioner of the Judicial Service Commission

The Hon. Presided over the swearing-in of the Hon. Attorney General, Dorcas Oduor SC, as a Commissioner of the Judicial Service Commission. The CJ congratulated her on her historic appointment as the first woman Attorney General in Kenya, a milestone that marks the shattering of yet another glass ceiling for the women and girls of our country.

The Judicial Service Commission, and indeed the entire justice sector, are delighted by her appointment. We have worked closely with her during her tenure as Secretary of Public Prosecutions, where she was actively involved in the activities of the National Council on the Administration of Justice (NCAJ). With her vast experience in the legal profession, she is well-acquainted with the challenges and issues facing our justice system. I am therefore confident that her voice, perspectives, and insights will greatly enrich our actions and decisions within the JSC, particularly in promoting the independence and accountability of the Judiciary, and supporting the goal of putting in place a people-centered justice system in Kenya.
