The Judiciary and Friedrich Neumann Foundation have established a solid foundation for collaboration through shared values. The values of freedom, an open society, and social justice championed by the Foundation are the same ones enshrined in the Kenyan Constitution that guides the Kenyan Judiciary. The two institutions are a perfect fit in terms of partnerships and collaboration. I recognize and appreciate collaboration and partnership in supporting the African Judges and Jurists Summit, which is scheduled to take place in Nairobi from 17th – 19th September 2024. I note the Foundation’s focus on creating Social Market Economies that enhance citizens’ personal freedoms, social peace, and high prosperity. This aligns with the Kenyan Judiciary’s strategic blueprint, ‘Social Transformation through Access to Justice’ (STAJ), which identifies Social Justice as a core value to enable citizens to flourish and realize their potential. This includes tackling barriers that hinder vulnerable, marginalized, and indigent groups from accessing justice.
