Held a consultative meeting with the Director of Public Prosecutions on the draft Children Act Rules.
The enactment of the Children Act in 2022 heralded a radical shift in the administration of child justice in Kenya. Various provisions of the Act require all the players involved in processing a child to promote a system of justice that realizes the welfare of the child and the Best Interests of the Child Principle.
Pursuant to the Children Act, we have developed four sets of Rules that are now in the final stages before publication. This process has been led by the Rules Committee of the Judiciary and the NCAJ Standing Committee on the Administration of Justice for Children matters.
