Chief Justices’ Forum on the margins of the Supreme Court@12

Hon. Chief Justice hosted a Chief Justices’ Forum on the margins of the Supreme Court@12 Conference for Chief Justices and Heads of Delegation to share thoughts, insights, and reflections on the unique responsibilities and challenges we encounter as leaders of our respective Judiciaries. We discussed strategies to safeguard judicial independence, bolster collegiality, and explored avenues for south-south partnerships among apex courts and Judiciaries worldwide. Our aim in fostering these connections is to promote collaboration among justice institutions globally, share strategies to enhance judicial service delivery and strengthen the rule of law. The Kenyan Judiciary is committed to cultivating these partnerships on continental and international levels.
The Cj is a firm believer and promoter of the idea that when Chief Justices from different jurisdictions come together, as we have done today, we gain a platform to share our triumphs, identify common goals, and address shared challenges. It is through such engagements that we learn how our counterparts defend the independence of their Judiciaries, foster collegiality among judges, and build cross-jurisdictional partnerships. These alliances are crucial as they amplify the voice of the Judiciary and reinforce the unity needed to counter-balance pressures from other branches of government and external entities.
